In the neighbourhood ... i quartieri di Firenze
The Aparthotel Residence San Niccolò is located in the famous neighborhood of Santa Croce, a few steps away from the magnificent Santa Croce Cathedral, awesome Franciscan Church in gothic style, where most artists and scientists of Renaissance time are buried (Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, ...); in the church Chapels there are precious frescoes of Giotto (Peruzzi and Bardi Chapels), while the Pazzi Chapel is a perfect masterpiece of Brunelleschi. The Cimabue’s grand crucifix, seriously damaged in the city Flood of ’66, is kept in the Church Museum.

The area of Santa Croce is one of the most lively and worldly of Florence, it is much loved by florentines also to spend their nights downtown because it is full of nice Locals – from the typical Trattorias where you can eat tasteful tuscan food to the most elegant Restaurants, and then bars and pubs till late night. A few steps from Santa Croce Church there is the Theater Verdi, one of the most important in town, where you can see different shows: musical, pop concerts, classical music concerts and operas.
Our neighborhood is also famous for Leather Factory: on the back of Santa Croce Church there is the Leather School and Museum, and all around it ‘s full of leather shops for jackets, bags.
In the Square of Santa Croce during the year many different events take place: Christmas markets, ice rink, music concerts, and especially it is the playground of the famous Florence Historical Football in the Month of June.
From Santa Croce you can easily reach all the historical city centre just walking: Signoria Square and the Uffizi Museum in 5-6 minutes, Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) in 6-7 minutes, the Duomo (Cathedral) in 10 minutes.
Commercial Area:

at 300 meters away from here, walking through the typical Florence lanes, you get to the old Sant’Ambrogio Market, open every day except festivity, with a wide covered area where you can find meat, cheese, ham and salami, etc., and many stalls all around selling fresh vegetables and fruits, and a little fleamarket.
Starting from Sant’Ambrogio and coming back trhough Beccaria Square and Via Gioberti you can find all kinds of shops and a Supermarket. Instead, if you go further towards the city centre, you find the historical Ciompi Market of Antique, where you can buy interesting old things. All around there are many antique restorers.
